Starship Factory is organised as a Verein — a Swiss registered association — so that you and every other Starshiponaut can realise projects affordably.
Besides cheaper machine usage and reduced material prices, members of Starship Factory have the right to help decide and shape the flight path of the project.
The monthly membership fees pay for tools and materials, keep the infrastructure running and cover the rent. You can become a member from CHF 24.- a month. If you like what we do, we are very happy about a higher contribution too.
Of course you can also come and make things without being a member. Our equipment is available to you as a guest! And as a patron you can support us without taking an active part.
Our most important principles are transparency and democracy. We want to disclose everything that happens at Starship Factory, and to document and explain what we build, so that others can learn from our experience and our mistakes, join in when they feel like it, and support us with what they know. Nothing should happen in obscurity: it matters that anyone who wants to know about something can inform themselves, get involved, and take part in decisions by direct democracy.
Mostly, though, we are a group of people who enjoy making things. The organisational structure is only there to give us a lasting framework, so we can get on undisturbed with creating something new and reaching for the stars — maybe one day even with a spaceship!
