Starship Factory has been one playground richer for a few days: an instance of the free software Home Assistant for home automation has been installed on our cloud server.
The server has also been fitted with a Zigbee USB stick, so that Zigbee-compatible devices can be controlled directly. Among these are products from Ikea’s inexpensive TRÅDFRI home automation range, but also lamps from Philips Hue.
As a first mini-project, the illuminated signs of the Werk and of Starship Factory were connected by means of smart plugs. From now on the signs switch on automatically at sunset and switch off again at a set time during the night.
Home Assistant can be reached inside Starship Factory’s network at the URL https://hass.lab.starship-factory.ch or alternatively https://liebe.lab.starship-factory.ch. If you would like to experiment too, do get in touch with Bernd (aka Langweiler).
