Workshop: build your own digital clock

We are building a digital clock to our own taste. The workshop offers an interesting mix of soldering, 3D printing and laser cutting. The individual steps can be carried out in any order. On the day of the workshop we will split into 3 groups for this. The workshop mainly serves as a way into the project. Finishing it then happens at your leisure during Starship Factory’s opening hours (see opening hours).

Date and time: 18 July 2020, 14:00 – 18:00

Recommended age: from 12 years, or from 8 years accompanied by an adult

Max. number of participants: 9

Registration: if you would like to take part, just drop us a line at workshops@rueblitorte.de. We will then confirm your registration and are available for any questions.

Prior knowledge needed: everyone can join in this workshop. If you have soldered before, know a little about 3D construction or about vector drawing programs, you will have an easier time of it. Everyone else will simply take a bit longer. The journey is the destination.

What you need to bring: for preparing the 3D print and the laser cut you need a notebook. Unfortunately we cannot provide one. For preparing the laser cut, the software Inkscape should ideally already be installed on the notebook. For the 3D construction we use a web application (Tinkercad).

Costs per participant: CHF 20 for taking part. In addition there is CHF 13 for the clock kit and around CHF 15 for the 3D print. For members of Starship Factory only the material costs apply.

What you take home at the end: a brightly glowing digital clock with the front and case of your choice. The clock also makes an excellent present.
