At the November plenary we decided to finally tackle the problem of overfull tables and overflowing boxes. So we have now bought a few extra shelves and been given another table. At the Monday meeting the time had come: we tidied and cleared out substantially and put up the new shelves.
The table became the new home of our T-shirt print shop. Some materials are now stored underneath; the table itself is taken up by the T-shirt press and the laptop used to drive the plotter.
That means no more constantly packing the T-shirt equipment away. Only the plotter has to be rolled up to the table again — but that is what its wheels are for. And the T-shirt press no longer takes up space among the snacks.
The monumental part of our rebuild was the workbench in the machine room. Over time a great many tools and tins had accumulated there that had found no place anywhere else. Thanks to our new shelves we could finally re-sort everything standing on the table and on the floor, label it and pack it into the shelves. Since then the table surface (right in the picture) is free for creative work again! And thanks to the labels you can easily find what you are looking for in the storage boxes on the shelf.
The last big change is our Dali shelf of things, mounted above the snack table on the bridge. There we show off our newest work. That has turned our snack bar into a place for refuelling and being inspired.
The manuals for sewing machine maintenance and the membership and mailing list forms are kept there too, so that while socialising on the bridge you can sort out the organisational side over a biscuit.
New lights will be installed shortly, to brighten the machine room a little and make it even more inviting. Do come by to get an impression for yourself, or to try out the new T-shirt print shop!
